Sports Medicine

Orthopedic Specialists’ Sports Medicine Center offers a complete range of diagnostic and surgical services for sports injuries and sports-related injuries. Whether you’re a professional athlete, a varsity star or a weekend warrior, sports injuries require a specialized approach – no one from Chicago to Omaha can provide that service quite like OS.

The health care team at OS uses the latest technology and one-on-one attention to help patients from diagnosis through rehabilitation for complete recovery. OS health care specialists will work with you to carefully define the kind of pain/discomfort you’re experiencing and then discuss the most appropriate treatment and rehabilitation options with you.

Common Conditions

About Minimally-Invasive Arthroscopic Surgery

At our Sports Medicine Center for Excellence, we use the most advanced, least invasive diagnostic and treatment methods. Our goal is to improve your function with better results and as little downtime as possible. Depending on your condition, our fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons may use a small surgical tool equipped with a tiny video camera and light, an arthroscope, to view detailed images of your joint on a video monitor. Contrary to traditional open surgical techniques, arthroscopy requires only one or more small incisions to allow well lit, detailed views of your joint during surgery. This minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical approach results in less tissue damage and therefore faster recovery compared to traditional open surgical procedures.

Physical Therapists

Orthopaedic Specialist’s occupational therapists are specifically trained to rehabilitate patients with knee disorders. You will receive a fully tailored therapy plan to help maximize the results of your recovery period following surgery.

Bracing: Splints and Orthotics

Our physical therapists commonly use custom splints or orthotics for treatment of lower extremity conditions. This type of treatment prevents unwanted movement to allow proper healing, reduce pain, and support a weak joint. Limiting the range of motion relieves stress on the affected area. A splint is a temporary aid commonly used following an injury or surgery and an orthosis is typically designed for long-term use. Depending on the problem, you may require either a soft or rigid orthotic support.
