Sports Medicine Division

The Sports Medicine Division of Orthopaedic Specialists is headed by Dr. John Hoffman. Dr. Hoffman has completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Toronto, Ontario Canada and devotes a substantial portion of his time to the treatment of the injured athlete. The doctors at Orthopaedic Specialists are the head team physicians for the Quad-City Mallards, Quad-City Steamwheelers, the Clinton Lumberkings and the Swing of the Quad Cities. In addition, Orthopaedic Specialists also provide medical support to area high schools and college level teams. Dr Hoffman has done over 1500 Anterior Cruciate Ligament Recontruction surgeries in his career. He also has a special interest in arthroscopic repair of torn rotator cuffs and other shoulder surgeries instead of using the larger incision.

The Foot and Ankle Division

The Foot and Ankle Division of Orthopaedic Specialists is headed by Dr. Tuvi Mendel. Dr. Mendel has completed the prestigious Dr. Mann Foot and Ankle Fellowship in San Francisco. Dr. Mendel devotes a great deal of his time and efforts to treatment of complex foot and ankle related problems and also specializes in injuries of area athletes.

Hand and Upper Extremity Division

The Hand and Upper Extremity Division is headed by Dr. Tyson Cobb. Dr. Cobb has completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery under Dr. David Green at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. Dr. Cobb devotes his entire practice to the upper extremity; this is the domain of what is typically treated by a "hand surgeon." Hand surgeons are surgeons who have completed a fellowship where they receive advanced training in the treatment of disorders of the hand, wrist, shoulder and elbows. This includes treatment of the most difficult problems and where the most technologically advanced procedures are learned.

Spine Division

The Spine Division of Orthopaedic Specialists is headed by Dr. Michael Dolphin. Dr. Dolphin completed a fellowship in Spine Surgery at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. This subspecialty training provides Dr. Dolphin the latest treatment options for the care and treatment of the neck and spine.

Total Joint Replacement Division

Dr. Hoffman offers minimally invasive or small incision knee and hip replacement surgeries. These generally allow his patients to have a more rapid return to normal activities with less pain and scarring, as well a shorter hospital stay. He did over 500 total joint replacements in 2004 and has done over 3000 in his career.
